Inspiration from the Victorian & Edwardian era
The Regional Day is a biennial event organised by the Beadworkers Guild alternating with the GBBS, and is held in a different area of the UK each time. The event is held over a weekend, with a beading Round Robin held on the Saturday, followed by the Guild AGM, and a Bead Bazaar on the Sunday, a chance to stock up from a variety of beading suppliers. Throughout the event the entries to the Challenge are displayed and judged, with the winners announced at the AGM.
We are hosting our event at: Selsdon Park Hotel & Golf Club, Addington Road, Sanderstead, South Croydon, Surrey. CR2 8YA
Our aim this year is, as always, to bring beadworkers together, to meet other members, have a fun filled day and satisfy our urge to bead.
This year we hope to inspire you, to help and encourage you to design and develop your skills, by viewing source materials from our collection and using these as your inspiration. There will be many objects and samples on display for you to choose from. We have some graphed images prepared for the not so confident, but for those of you with oodles of confidence we hope to see some wonderful ideas being developed.
On Friday evening you will have time to relax in the bar and get to know other guests or explore the historic elements of the hotel or if you prefer and the weather permits, sit on the terrace and enjoy the view.
On Saturday beading begins at 9am. After a brief introduction you will be free to select your own beading path. After lunch, check the seating plan, we usually move everyone around to allow you to meet new people, make new friends and share ideas. During the day you need to find time to view and vote for your favourite Challenge piece. The AGM will take place after dinner to round off the day.
On Sunday we shop!!! A variety of traders have been invited to tempt you to spend your money.
We hope you find this an exciting prospect, we certainly do. Numbers will be limited due to the hotel's capacity and fire regulations.
