The Guild has published three books in their ‘Introduction to Beadwork’ series, as well as two booklets for complete beginners.

Anniversary Book

Beginners Beading
This series of booklets is being produced for beading beginners. The current two are quite different in approach with Basics 1 covering a number of different techniques to give a flavour of the wider world of beadwork; whilst Basics 2 looks in detail at one technique. Bead stringing offers the possibility of stunning pieces of jewellery using simple methods. This booklet is a good introduction to beading for youngsters.

Introduction to Beadwork
This series of books is designed to help you learn new stitches, give you beadwork confidence, and inspire you to create your own masterpieces. All three books give you the information and help that you need in order to start beading, but each book has a slightly different emphasis. The Bracelets Book doubles as a Stitch Samples; The Earrings Book focuses on techniques to create both flat and 3D shapes; and this new Necklaces Book also introduces the elements of design. Whilst all the books can be used independently, if you progress through the books in this order, your beadwork will also progress, from gaining confidence in the different stitches, to the intricacies of shaping, through to the satisfaction of designing your own project and having the skills and confidence to implement that design.

Copyright
The rules on copyright exist to protect those who produce original work for sale or publication. However, even though the principles are simple, the rules are often misunderstood or ignored. We have therefore drawn up some common sense guidelines about them which you can download here. If you run a beading group, sell beading instructions or kits, or are a beadwork tutor, you are welcome to copy the guidelines and pass them on to your members, customers or students.
