The Great British Bead Show 2021
Thursday 6th - Sunday 9th May 2021
Masterclass by Melanie de Miguel
On Thursday Melanie is offering a masterclass that brings you a selection of six different elements, each of which features Hubble stitch in a splendid variety of sub-techniques. Your journey will begin with Bubble Hubble for the three-dimensional Jupiter, Lonely Hubbles for the Satellite, Double Hubbles for Neptune, Interference Wave Hubble for the Rope and Space Station and Circular Hubble bezels for decoration. All very techy terms for a piece which actually has great elegance and mystery in its asymmetry, and wonderful wearability (more details can be found under the workshop listings). Melanie will also be teaching some fabulous classes on Friday and Saturday.
Friday evening talk
An after-dinner guest speaker to enlighten and entertain us (speaker to be advised)
Exhibition of The Challenge entries
7th Friday to Sunday 8th May
All the "Save the Planet - Bead it, don't bin it!"Challenge entries will be on display on Friday and Saturday. All GBBS attendees may vote for their favourite to receive the Members’ Choice awards. Winners are announced at the AGM on Saturday evening and on Sunday the exhibition will be open to people attending the Bazaar (exhibition closes 2 pm).
Members’ display
Friday & Saturday May
Members attending the show are invited to bring their work along for other participants to enjoy during Friday and Saturday. This provides a wonderful display that changes over the two days. There is no judging, so no pressure! All you have to do is label your work with your name and to credit the original designer, if appropriate. If you wish to add a description of the techniques used, that is always interesting.
Annual General Meeting of The Beadworkers Guild
Saturday in the evening. All members welcome, and further details will be supplied nearer the time.
This is our opportunity to report back to the membership and explain our progress. It is more fun than you might expect!
